VCSELs are expected to have a broader and broader use in
opto-electronics. The network involves the most advanced European
laboratories for a complete research work on this subject and will
offer a unique training capability for young scientists interested
in this field. They will become familiar with a wide variety of
domains ranging from fabrication to device and system assessment,
tests in linear, non-linear and quantum optics, condensed matter
physics, non-linear dynamics, including the most sophisticated
techniques in electronics and optics. The training will be provided in a interdisciplinary atmosphere and completed by visits and collaborations between complementary laboratories. The young researchers will be involved in programming the collaboration work, improving also their organisation skill. In such a highly competitive field closely connected with information technology, the young scientists trained by the network will be highly appreciated by the European Industry.
