8.5 Motion in a rotating frame: the Coriolis force

You might start by viewing the short YouTube video on Coriolis effect, (unfortunately of rather poor quality but it gives an excellent idea of what is involved).

This Coriolis effect simulation is from the website of Cleon Teunissen. As in the case of the Centrifugal effect applet (Section 8.4), it shows rotational motion simultaneously from an inertial point of view and from a co-rotating viewpoint.
