Research Interests

  • Development of new metamaterials for plasmonic based optical sensing
    and light extraction from/injection into semiconductor devices
  • vertical cavity surface-emmitting lasers(VCSELs): optical and electrical properties,
    integration of VCSELs with plasmonic outcouplers for 2D optics
  • vertical cavity semiconductor devices for fluorescence spectroscopy in micro-environments
  • Semiconductor laser physics and technology: dynamics of lasers and nonlinear optical systems,
    optical switching and bistability; laser stabilisation and frequency/phase locking;
  • diode laser based remote sensing by coherent optical backscatter;
