2004- Feb. 2006: Worked as a Junior
Research Fellow on “Optical Tweezers” with Prof. Vasant Natarajan,
Optical Physics Lab., IISc, Bangalore, India.
2006- present: The instinct of
understanding nature and its phenomena brought me to join the Quantum
Optics Group as a postgraduate student, under the
supervision of Dr.
Síle Nic Chormaic. As a part of the
group, I am working with cold atoms. We are using a MOT
(magneto-optical trap) to trap and cool rubidium atoms. We are
studying the coupling of atoms with the evanescent field emitted by
tapered micro-fibres. This should enable us to trap and guide the
