In 2002 I completed my degree in Cork Insitute of Technology in Applied Physics and Instrumentation. My final year project was computer generated holography for the design of virtual optics components. This increased my interest in optics. From there I moved to Scotland, where I did a M.Sc. in Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices in the University of St. Andrew's and Heriot-Watt University. I have been with the Quantum Optics Group in CIT since September 2003, where I am studying erbium-doped microspherical lasers.
