Mark joined the
group in October 2009, having completed his BSc in Physics from
UCC. For his MSc, Mark is working on the design of an atom
chip based on microtrap arrays and the interaction between cold atoms
and nanofibres.
In March 2010 Mark won the IOPI Rosse medal for his postgraduate research on "Laser cooling and trapping techniques for cold atoms". The presentation was made at the annual Spring Weekend, held in Athlone.  Mark receives the Rosse Medal from Jocelyn Bell.
