There are currently six 10 credit courses which make up the taught portion of the masters in Photonics. In addition there is a laboratory component that supplements the courses and is designed to provide hands on experience in each of the areas. The combination of the labs and courses are designed to either jump start a student into more advanced Ph.D. work or to prepare the scientist or engineer with the theoretical and practical background required for an academic or industrial career in Photonics.


Following the successful completion of the course work, the student will then pursue a research project in Photonics in one of the many Photonic research groups in Cork.
